How to Create a Reseller
Which Type Should I Use?
The foundational decision involves determining “who collects the payment from the customer.” TicketingHub offers two reseller models:
Commission resellers: You collect payment through your checkout, then compensate the reseller afterwards. Ideal when you manage the transaction.
Wholesale resellers: The reseller collects payment and remits you a fixed net rate. Best for hotels, concierges or bulk booking partners who already possess customer funds.
Understanding the Two Types of Resellers
Commission Model
- You handle all payment collection via your gateway
- Resellers earn a cut after the sale is completed
- Distribution channels include portal widgets and unique affiliate tracking links
Wholesale Model
- Resellers book without immediate payment requirements
- Often operate under a credit limit (optional for larger partners)
- Access provided through portal login or API integration
Configurable Reseller Settings
When establishing a new reseller account, you can customise:
- Name — Business or contact identifier
- Email — Portal login and notification address
- Password — Dashboard access credential
- Currency — Operating currency preference
- Credit Limit — Optional; primarily for wholesale partners
- Invoice and Notice Dates — Billing cycle management

Giving Your Reseller Access
Portal Widget Method
Both reseller types access bookings through a standard widget with the reseller portal setting enabled. Commission resellers appear in widget drop-downs; wholesale resellers log in directly using their email credentials.
Affiliate Link (Commission Only)
Commission resellers can track referrals using:
https://yourwebsite.com/booking?th-reseller-ref=RESELLERCODEThe affiliate code functions as a URL parameter only — customers cannot enter it at checkout.
Pre-Configured OTA Platforms
Get Your Guide, Viator, Airbnb and Rezdy come pre-configured as wholesale resellers. All OTA resellers must use the wholesale payment model. To activate the Viator API connection, request TicketingHub in the Viator Supplier Management Center — see How to Connect TicketingHub to Viator. GetYourGuide needs your Product IDs shared with them.
Airbnb requires manual setup: activate it in Settings → Integrations, then connect individual products through the product’s Integrations tab.
Common Mistakes
- Confusing reseller types based on when payment is collected
- Attempting to assign wholesale resellers to specific widgets (they do not appear in drop-downs)
- Asking resellers to enter affiliate codes in checkout fields instead of sharing complete URLs
- Misconfiguring affiliate URL parameters with incorrect formatting
