Understanding Your TicketingHub Dashboard Tiles
Your dashboard is made of tiles you choose. Each tile shows one measure, such as sales, bookings or payments, either as a single figure, as a chart over time, or split by something like product or channel. You decide which tiles you have, how big they are and where they sit, and you can save several arrangements as views.
How Tiles Count
Every tile adds up what was recorded on your orders in the selected date range: bookings created, amended, cancelled or expired, payments received, refunds issued. Each of these carries an amount and the date it happened.
This has three consequences worth knowing:
- A cancellation or a reduced booking inside the range is subtracted in that range, even if the original booking was made earlier. Tiles always show the net movement for the period.
- Abandoned checkouts that never complete appear as a booking and then as an expiry. When both fall inside the range they cancel out. A checkout that is still open at the end of the range counts until it expires.
- Amounts stay fixed to the date they happened. If you edit a booking later, the original period does not change; the difference shows in the period when you made the edit.
Sales are dated in your account’s time zone and visits in each product’s own time zone. How Dashboard Dates and Date Ranges Work explains the two dates, the time zones, and why a long or old date range can widen to whole weeks or months.
Filter the Dashboard
The controls at the top of the dashboard apply to every tile at once:
- From and To set the date range. Ranges offers common ones, such as yesterday, the last 7 days, month to date or all time.
- Dates chooses what a date means: Date booked on is the day the sale, payment or refund was recorded, Date booked for is the day of the visit.
- Group by sets whether charts show a point per day, week or month.
- Product, Channel, Reseller, Location, Source, Ticket type and Coupon narrow every tile to what you pick. Pick several to include any of them.
A few measures cannot be narrowed by a few filters. A payment is taken against an order rather than a product, so with a product filter the Payments, Refunds and Commission tiles say Not available with this filter instead of showing a figure. Remove the filter and they come back.
Check the active filters before comparing figures or exporting a report.
Compare With the Previous Period
Every tile that shows a single figure also shows how it compares with the same length of time before: the day before for a single day, the prior week, month or year when your range is exactly one of those, and otherwise the prior period of the same length. Charts draw the previous period in grey behind this period’s blue, so you can see the shape of the change as well as its size.
A rise is shown in green and a fall in red, except for measures where less is better, such as cancellations, refunds and expired value, which are coloured the other way round.
The Measures
Money measures exclude tax unless the measure is tax itself.
- Sales: Net value of bookings, extras and merchandise sold in the period, after cancellations and reductions.
- Tax: Tax included in those sales.
- Voucher sales and Gift card sales: Value of open-dated vouchers and of gift cards sold. These move into Sales only when they are redeemed.
- Payments: Money received from customers.
- Refunds: Money returned to customers.
- Cancellations: Value of bookings cancelled in the period.
- Expired value and Bookings expired: Value and number of checkouts that were abandoned and expired.
- Commission: Commission owed to resellers on their sales.
- Allocated revenue and Allocated cost: Payments allocated to bookings, which is how money received reaches a product, and the payment charges allocated to them.
- Bookings: Net number of bookings for the period. Bookings created counts new bookings without subtracting cancellations.
- People: Net number of ticket holders.
- Quantity: Net number of tickets, extras and items of merchandise.
Sales and payments answer different questions. A payment records when money is received, while sales show the value assigned to bookings. Vouchers, tax, refunds, deposits and payment timing can make the totals different.
Split a Measure
Any measure can be split by product, ticket category, ticket type, ticket, extra, merchandise, rate, package, channel, reseller, user, source, location, coupon, payment type or payment provider, where that split makes sense for the measure. A split tile shows the figure for each item, as a table ranked from largest, as bars or a pie, or as a line or area chart with one line per item over time.
When you split by ticket type, remember that a booking holding several ticket types counts once under each of them, so booking numbers for the types add up to more than the total. Sales and people divide between the types and do add up. How Dashboard Dates and Date Ranges Work has the detail.
Ways to Show a Tile
A tile can show its measure as:
- Number: the total for the period, with the comparison underneath.
- Line, Area or Bars: the measure over time, one point per day, week or month, with the previous period behind it.
- Pie or Table: the share of each item in a split tile.
- Months, year on year: one bar per month for the three calendar years ending in your range’s year, one colour per year, so you can see this year against the last two. This chart reads its own three years whatever date range you have chosen, but your other filters still apply to it. Years with nothing in them are left out.
Change the way a tile is shown at any time from the tile’s menu.
Add, Arrange and Remove Tiles
- Select Add tile, choose a measure, optionally something to split it by, and how to show it, then select Add to dashboard.
- Drag a tile to move it, and drag its bottom-right corner to resize it. Other tiles move out of the way.
- Open a tile’s menu to change its chart type, drill down to its transactions, or remove it.
Save Views
Tiles you add, move or resize are not kept until you save them. The button at the top right shows Unsaved layout until you do, and the dashboard warns you before you leave the page and lose the arrangement.
Open that menu to save the current tiles as a named view, to save changes to the view you are on or save them as a new one, and to switch between your views or delete one. A view keeps the tiles, the grouping and the product, channel and other filters, but not the date range or the date basis, which you choose each time. Tick Make this my default on the view you want to see first when you open the dashboard. Views are yours: each team member keeps their own.
Drill Down to the Transactions
Each tile’s menu offers Drill down, which lists the individual transactions behind that tile’s figure, with the same date basis, date range and filters the tile was using. How Dashboard Dates and Date Ranges Work describes what the list shows and how to read, sort and export it.
Quick Checks
- For how trading went, use Date booked on. For how busy you will be, use Date booked for.
- For partner performance, split Sales by reseller or channel. For staff activity, split it by user.
- For money actually taken, use Payments split by payment type.
- When two totals look different, first confirm that they use the same date basis and date range.
Why Figures Can Differ From the Previous Dashboard and Reports
The new tiles replace the previous dashboard and the old summary reports. A different total can reflect a different measure or date rule. Use the comparisons below when checking figures you saved before the change.
Compared With the Previous Dashboard
The main Sales calculation is unchanged: it excludes tax, records amendments and cancellations as they happen, and counts vouchers and gift cards as sales when redeemed. These differences can still affect a comparison:
| What you compare | Previous dashboard | New dashboard |
|---|---|---|
| Sales by product | The Products tile counted ticket sales only, excluding extras. | Sales split by product includes that product’s extras. |
| Visit dates | Used your account’s time zone. | Date booked for uses each product’s time zone. If the zones differ, a visit near midnight can fall on a different day. |
Compared With the Old Reports
These comparisons refer to the retired Booking Sales and Revenue summary reports. The timing of changes below assumes Date booked on; Date booked for groups figures by the visit instead.
| What you compare | Old reports | New dashboard |
|---|---|---|
| Sales and tax | Booking Sales included tax. | Sales excludes tax; Tax is separate. |
| Cancellations | Booking Sales included cancelled bookings unless Exclude cancelled was ticked; some product breakdowns always included them. | Subtracted when cancelled, even if the original sale was in an earlier period. |
| Later amendments | Showed a booking’s current value against its original order date. | Keeps the original sale and records the difference on the amendment date. |
| Day boundaries | Booking Sales and Revenue grouped sales and payments into UTC days. | Date booked on uses your account’s time zone, so transactions near midnight can move to another day. |
| Open-dated vouchers | Booking Sales counted them when booked. | Shown in Voucher sales first; move into Sales when redeemed. Gift cards likewise have a separate Gift card sales tile. |
| Unfinished checkouts | Booking Sales only counted bookings on confirmed orders. | Count until they expire; creation and expiry cancel out if both fall within the selected period. |
| Revenue versus payments | Revenue deducted refunds, payment charges and reseller commission. | Payments shows money received. Refunds, allocated costs and commission are separate measures, so Payments is not the old net revenue figure. |
To check exactly what a new tile includes, open its menu and select Drill down. This lists the transactions behind the figure using your selected dates and filters. Treat this breakdown as the definitive guide to interpreting the new report, including when its total differs from an old dashboard or report.
