Confirming an Order That Is Not Fully Paid

An order with an outstanding balance is handled differently depending on whether it is a standard order, a deposit order, or a provisional order. Manually added bookings stay Pending until the order is confirmed.

Why Confirm Order Is Unavailable

A booking cannot be confirmed unless one of the following is true:

  • A payment (or the required deposit) has been added to the order
  • The order is marked as a Provisional Order
  • A Payment Request link has been added so the customer can pay online

Without one of these, the order remains Pending and Confirm Order stays unavailable. Mark the order as provisional when you need to confirm without taking payment first. Use a payment request when you want the customer to pay later via a secure link.

Choose the Right Order Type

Order typeWhen you can confirm itWhat the customer receives
Standard orderAfter the full amount has been paidTheir booking confirmation and tickets, plus a receipt if receipt emails are enabled
Deposit orderAfter the required deposit has been paidAn invoice showing the outstanding balance if invoice emails are enabled; tickets are sent after full payment
Provisional orderWithout taking payment firstA pro forma invoice if invoice emails are enabled; tickets are not sent while the order remains provisional
Payment requestAfter you add a payment request (status becomes Payment Requested); confirm once payment is collected, or mark the order provisional if you need to confirm before paymentA payment link by email; tickets are sent after the order is paid

Create and Confirm the Order

  1. Go to Orders and select Actions → New Order.
  2. Open Actions → New Booking.
  3. Add the product, date, time, guests, and customer details.
  4. Choose how to handle payment:
    • For a standard order, add payment for the full balance.
    • For a deposit order, add the required deposit. Deposit rules must already be set up for the product.
    • For a provisional order, update the order and select Provisional Order.
    • To collect payment later by link, add a Payment Request.
  5. Select Confirm Order when the order is ready (after payment or deposit, or after marking it provisional).

If Confirm Order is unavailable on a standard order, add payment for the outstanding balance first, or mark the order as provisional if you are confirming without payment.

Complete the Balance Later

For a deposit order, collect the remaining balance from the order. Once it is fully paid, TicketingHub can send the customer’s tickets.

For a confirmed provisional order, add payment for the remaining balance. When it becomes fully paid, TicketingHub automatically changes it to a non-provisional order and can send the customer confirmation and tickets.

You can send a payment link instead of taking payment directly. See How to Request Payments via a Payment Request Link.
