PayPal Refund Error: Verified ACH Account Required
If a PayPal refund fails with a message asking for a verified ACH account, PayPal cannot fund the refund from the account currently available to it. This is a PayPal account or funding-source issue, not a problem with the booking.
ACH is the bank transfer system commonly used for US bank accounts.
Resolve the Error
- Sign in to the PayPal business account connected to TicketingHub.
- Check whether your PayPal balance can cover the refund.
- Open your PayPal wallet or bank account settings.
- Add a bank account that supports ACH, or complete PayPal’s verification steps for an account that is already linked.
- Check for account limitations or requests for information from PayPal.
- Once PayPal confirms that the funding source can be used for refunds, return to TicketingHub and retry the refund.
The exact PayPal menu names and verification steps can vary by country and account type. If the bank account already appears as verified, contact PayPal support and provide the original transaction reference, refund amount, and exact error message.
Avoid Duplicate Refunds
Before retrying, check the original payment in PayPal to make sure no refund was completed. Do not send the refund again if PayPal already shows it as completed or pending.
If you refund the customer outside TicketingHub, record the refund with the correct manual refund method so your reports remain accurate. See How to Amend, Cancel, Refund, or Switch a Booking.
Still Having Trouble?
PayPal must resolve account verification, funding-source, and account-limitation issues. TicketingHub support can help you identify the affected order, but cannot verify a bank account or remove a restriction from your PayPal account.
